Team Ultra Throw Well Represented at Canadian Masters Championships

The Canadian Masters Track & Field Championships were hosted in western Canada this year to the delight of west coast athletes, and team Ultra Throw was very well represented at the event which was hosted by Oceans Athletics from August 3 - 5, 2018 at the South Surrey Athletic Park. 

Competing for Ultra Throw along with athletes from across the country (and from New Zealand, the US and India) was: Andrew Arthur, Mohan Bains, Rose Hare, John Hodgson, David Kotula, Andrew Natale, Harnek Toor, Gabriella Moro, Johannes Peters, Elisabeth Rollins, Robbin Whachell, Celina Wong, and David Ulis.

The team garnered over 60 medals collectively.

Congratulations to Johanne 'Jo' Peters (64) who broke a record for the Throws Pentathlon with 3619 points.

Team Ultra Throw saddened at the loss of oldest member

Scot Henney at the World Masters in 2016.

It is with heavy hearts, we regret to advise that our oldest member and international masters athlete and medalist passed away last week at the age of 92. Scot attended the World Masters in 2016. Read his story here.

His Ultra Throw teammates will miss him and we extend condolences to his family.

The funeral is arranged for Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 3141 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, BC, Canada . Reception to immediately follow at the Parish.

Who:    Senior (ages 20 – 34) & Masters (ages 35 and up)
Cost:     1st event = $12, 2nd event = $10, 3rd event = $8, 4th event & up = $6 each

Throws Triathlon (must be registered for Shot Put, Discus & Javelin)
Throws Pentathlon (must be registered for Hammer, Shot Put, Discus, Javelin & Weight)

Guaranteed: 6 Throws per Event
Hammer/Shot Put/Discus/Javelin/Weight/Super Weight PLUS
Throws Triathlon (Shot Put /Discus/Javelin) and Throws Pentathlon (Hammer/Shot Put/Discu s/Javelin/Weight)

The first 3 attempts in each event are the ones used to determine the scores in the Throws Triathlon and the  Throws Pentathlon. Where an individual is registered for both the Throws Triathlon and the Throws Pentathlon, the first 3attempts are scored for the Pentathlon and the last 3 attempts are scored for the Triathlon.

We run a floating schedule; events may run ahead of schedule and athletes should be prepared to compete in their next event 45 minutes ahead of the scheduled start time.

Organizers will supply implements; however, participants can weight-in their personal implements at 11 am.

Shot put underway during our October 2017 festival at McLeod Park in Langley, BC.

Our 2018 Throws Festivals  are currently listed (and approved) by B.C. Athletics for the following dates: 

• Sunday, March 24 - Ultra Throw Festival #1
• Sunday, May 27 - Ultra Throw Festival #2
• Sunday, July 15 - Ultra JD Throws Festival (9 - 13 yrs)
• Sunday, July 22 - Ultra Throw Festival #3
• Sun., Sept. 29 / 30- Ultra Throw Festival #4

All festivals will be held at McLeod Athletic Park in Langley, B.C.
