Ultra Throw Athletes Shine at BC Championships

Ultra Throw was proud to have 10 athletes represent the club at the 2025 BC Athletics Track & Field Championships, held at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam from July 4–6. Competing against some of the top talent from across the province, our athletes rose to the challenge and delivered strong performances in their respective events.

Congrats to Meagan Mckay for taking a bronze in the U20 heptathlon with a score of 3663.

Here’s a breakdown of the results by athlete:

Sebastian Body (U18)

  • Hammer Throw: 39.19m

Dianna Debanks (U16)

  • Discus: 21.47m

  • Javelin: 21.70m

Vanessa Debanks (U16)

  • Discus: 28.54m

  • Javelin: 23.34m

Ethan Lau (U16)

  • Shot Put: 10.36m

  • Discus: 33.21m

Kailey McKay (U20)

  • Heptathlon: 2,941 points

Meagan McKay (U20)

  • Heptathlon: 3,663 points (Bronze medal)

Arshdeep Singh (Senior)

  • Hammer Throw: 32.91m

Shawn Stevens (Senior)

  • Discus: 31.19m

  • Hammer Throw: 31.38m

Megan Teolis (U18)

  • Hammer Throw: 47.09m (Bronze medal)

Whether it was setting personal bests or just gaining valuable experience on the provincial stage, we’re incredibly proud of each of our athletes. A big thank-you goes out to BC Athletics and all the officials and volunteers who made this weekend of competition possible.

Club Results: Greyhounds Multi-Meet

On August 3-4, Ultra Throw masters members took on the Throws Pentathlon at the Combined Events Meet, hosted by Greyhounds Track & Field Club in Coquitlam at Percy Perry Stadium. This event, which brought together over 80 athletes from 20 clubs across Canada and the USA, was a fantastic display of dedication and competitive spirit.

Ultra Throw’s own David Ulis, Ken Townsend, and Robbin Whachell stepped up to represent our team, delivering impressive performances against strong competition. Here are their final results in the Throws Pentathlon:

  • David Ulis – 2927 points, winning 75+ Men’s Gold

  • Ken Townsend – 2112 points, earning 75+ Men’s Silver

  • Robbin Whachell – 2320 points, securing 60+ Women’s Bronze

These results are a testament to the hard work and skill of each athlete. A special thank you goes to the Greyhounds and the dedicated BC Athletics officials who made this event possible. Their hard work ensured a smooth, high-caliber meet that athletes and spectators alike could enjoy.
